Last week, Dutch military personnel were in Uganda to give training courses to the Ugandan Battle Group. They provided courses in command and control and first aid and also started preparations for the coming firing exercises for mortars, artillery pieces and tanks. Mali

This week, an IED attack on a civilian vehicle took place 25 kilometres south of Gossi, resulting in one fatality and 12 wounded. Task Group Desert Falcon worked closely with the Dutch helicopter detachment to evacuate a number of the wounded to Gao. They also checked the area where the attack took place.

The All Sources Intelligence Fusion Unit (ASIFU), which the Netherlands armed forces contributed to from the very start of Minusma, has become part of the U2 Division of Force Headquarters in Bamako. The focus of the mission has thus shifted from the political-strategic to the operational- tactical level; however, if required, analysts will still be deployed at the political-strategic level.
