Police Training
NATO and the EU are cooperating closely in strengthening the Afghan civilian police. Consequently, in the context of the integrated police training mission, the Netherlands is contributing to both the European police mission (EUPOL) and the NATO training mission (NTM-A). While EUPOL focuses on the mid-level and senior levels, the NTM-A is concentrating on training the police in the field.
The training given by the Dutch is more intensive than the regular NTM-A model and the refresher sessions and monitoring makes it more enduring. The standard of the training is enhanced by imparting the knowledge and skills necessary for good governance and human rights. The Netherlands places particular emphasis on the quality of its training and instruction.
