Diving and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group
Navy divers are trained to dive under all weather and sea conditions. They are capable at all times of repairing damage to the hull of a ship or clearing explosives under water. Cerberus class diving vessels such as HNLMS Hydra are used as diving platforms for these activities. These diving vessels have all the equipment the divers require on board.
The divers undergo regular physical examinations at the Navy Diving Medical Centre. The Centre is specialized in medical examinations, medical assistance in the event of diving accidents, treatment of decompression sickness and hyperbaric oxygen therapy for other medical cases.
