Support vessel
The navy has a support ship, HNLMS Pelikaan, which operates in the Caribbean waters. The Pelikaan supports operations and exercises of the Netherlands Marine Corps and the coastguard of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba.

In the event of a natural disaster, HNLMS Pelikaan, which went into service on 12 June 2006, can transport materiel, personnel and humanitarian assistance supplies in the region quickly.
The Pelikaan also provides support to the operations of the navy's guard ship, which is stationed permanently in the Caribbean. It is used for law enforcement, coastguard operations and counter-narcotics operations. The ship has a crane that can be used to hoist containers into and out of the cargo hold.
