Police task at civil airports
The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee performs the police task at all civil airports in the Netherlands. The Marechaussee’s responsibilities include maintaining public order, providing assistance and preventing crime.
This includes projects aimed at preventing widespread crime, traffic surveillance, registering crime reports and investigating punishable offences.

More extensive criminal investigations, such as investigations into raids, drug trafficking or human trafficking at the airports, are conducted by the Investigation and Information Divisions, or in other words the Marechaussee’s criminal investigators. Marechaussee personnel work closely with customs officials to combat the various forms of drug trafficking.
