- Marechaussee
Culture
The Marechaussee has a long history, steeped in tradition. The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee dates back to 26 October 1814, when Willem I signed the decree to establish a Corps de Marechaussée.
Marechaussee personnel also carry out ceremonial duties. In their ceremonial dress, they could, for example, form a guard of honour during special events. De Bereden Brigade Koninklijke Marechaussee verricht zowel ceremoniële als operationele taken.
The Trumpet Corps of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee is a marching band of 57 musicians, which performs on a wide variety of occasions. The Trumpet Corps was founded in 1950 as a military marching band.
