- Marechaussee
Culture
The Marechaussee has a long history, steeped in tradition. The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee dates back to 26 October 1814, when Willem I signed the decree to establish a Corps de Marechaussée.
Marechaussee personnel also carry out ceremonial duties. For example, during special events they are often asked to form a guard of honour in their ceremonial dress. The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee Mounted Brigade carries out both operational and ceremonial tasks.
The Trumpet Corps of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee is a marching band of 57 musicians, which performs on a wide variety of occasions. The Trumpet Corps was founded in 1950 as a military marching band.
