Defence Open Days

During the Open Days, the Defence organisation demonstrates its ongoing deployability for peace and security in the Netherlands and far beyond its borders.

The Services of the armed forces will showcase various advanced weapon systems in large-scale displays, demonstrating how the armed forces use them. The dates of the 2013 Open Days are:

• Royal Netherlands Air Force Open Days: 14 and 15 June, Volkel;
• Royal Netherlands Navy Open Days: 20, 21, 22 and 23 June, Den Helder.

2013 Royal Netherlands Army Open Days cancelled

In 2010, the Defence organisation decided to reduce the number of armed forces Open Days events held per year from 3 to 2. This is due to cutbacks and explains why the Royal Netherlands Army Open Days will not take place in 2013. However, the Royal Netherlands Army will be present at both of this year’s Air Force and the Navy events.
