The Netherlands’ contribution to EUSEC in Congo comes to an end
8 February 2012, 9.00 uur
The Netherlands’ contribution to the European Security (EUSEC) mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo was concluded on 1 February 2012. The last Dutch member of the military left the African country on that date. The objective of the EUSEC mission was to (re)form integrated Congolese armed forces.
The Netherlands decided to withdraw from the mission in view of reduced Netherlands Defence capability and the limited progress made by the EUSEC mission owing to the difficult conditions under which it operates.
