Part of Kamp Holland handed over to coalition partners
25 August 2010, 9.20 hrs
The Redeployment Task Force (RDTF) symbolically transferred the first part of Kamp Holland to the coalition partners on 19 August. Colonel Jurgen van der Biezen, Deputy Commander of RDTF, presented the key to the camp to the Australian Wing Commander Smith, representative of the Multinational Base Command Tarin Kowt in a modest ceremony.
Engineers are hard at work every day cleaning up the Dutch parts of the camp. Manpower alone is not enough. Large cranes lift tents off Hescos, powerful bulldozers demolish those defensive walls and ten-tonne trucks carry off the gravel. There is also a great deal of materiel that can be re-used in the Netherlands.

Colonel Van der Biezen said that that Dutch were hard at work gathering equipment and cleaning up the camp. “And we will continue providing services until our coalition partners can take over from us,” he added. Wing Commander Smith gratefully accepted the key to the property and praised the Dutch military personnel for their efforts.
The part of the camp that was handed over was the former base of operations for the reconnaissance platoon. The transfer marked another milestone in the redeployment process. The first convoy moved from Deh Rawod to Tarin Kowt last week.
