Materiel projects
The Defence organisation is one of the largest investors of all the Dutch government authorities. Every year, the organisation invests over EUR 1.6 billion in, for instance, new materiel.
The total defence budget amounts to approximately EUR 8 billion per year. The Defence organisation aims to achieve an annual investment percentage of at least 20%.
The product to be purchased must fulfil the established requirements and must be available for an acceptable price and within the agreed delivery time. Rules are required to facilitate the procurement process, and to ensure that the Defence budget is spent in the best way possible.
Every year, at the official opening of Parliament, the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) sends an updated version of the Materiel Projects Overview to the House of Representatives.
